What are the benefits of the carnivore diet?

The carnivore diet is a type of eating pattern that consists solely of animal foods. It has grown in popularity recently as more people are realizing its benefits for weight loss and general health.

This article will discuss the basics of this diet, what it includes, and whether or not you should give it a try!

Benefits of the Carnivore Diet

The Carnivore Diet is Low Carb.

For many people, eating low carb can help release the water weight they are carrying around.

Most people in modern society are eating a much higher ratio of carbs than fats, and this can lead to weight gain because our bodies need both for energy.

If you are eating a lot of carbs, your body will use glucose to burn instead of burning fat.

A high-fat diet has been shown to activate the body’s metabolic rate (and thus speed up metabolism), which helps you burn weight when you are not even actively trying.

Most if not all people will lose a dramatic amount of weight on the carnivore diet.

The Carnivore Diet is High in Protein.

Protein is the building block of life. It is the most important macronutrient and it is essential to anyone who wants to have a lean body.

Protein can help you lose weight by feeling fuller for longer, which allows your stomach to fill up with less food in order to feel satisfied.

It also will keep blood sugar levels constant, which means that they won’t spike.

Balancing blood sugar on the carnivore diet is a huge benefit.

The Carnivore Diet Supports a Healthy Immune System.

Many people with autoimmune-related issues have found it helpful to only eat meat for periods of time.

This helps to starve off any bad gut bacteria or candida infections.

If you are overrun with SIBO or other bacteria issues, it can give your body a fighting chance to gain the high ground.

The Carnivore Diet is Low Oxalate

Oxalates are substances that are naturally created by our bodies but can also be found in many healthy plants such as spinach.

Plants such as beets, spinach, sweet potato, and wheat contain tons of oxalates.

If you have a condition like fibromyalgia, kidney stones, or interstitial cystitis, it’s important to pay attention to how oxalates affect your digestive system and overall wellbeing.

These oxalate crystals can get stuck in joints and cause major pain.

Since I have a history of kidney stones, I know I deal with an oxalate issue.

If you are planning on cutting out more vegetables and adding in some healthy meats, do it slowly if you have oxalate issues.

If you cut off eating oxalates too quickly you could experience dumping.

Oxalate dumping is when your body tries to get rid of the extra oxalates in your system. It can dump them all at once causing bladder issues, skin and eye pain, and even migraines.

For me, personally low oxalates are one of the biggest benefits of the carnivore diet.

Who is the Carnivore Diet Good For?

The carnivore diet is perfect for those who suffer from health problems such as chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases (such as Crohn’s Disease), insulin sensitivity, and metabolic syndrome.

The lifestyle also seems to be beneficial in cases of diabetes or obesity since it helps reduce the body’s susceptibility to storing fat.

Lots of people are using it temporarily to reduce weight quickly which isn’t always a bad thing.

What Can You Eat on a Carnivore Diet?

The carnivore diet is often called a zero carb, all meat or animal protein-based eating plan.

  • It can be categorized as a ketogenic and low carbohydrate because the main foods are animals products like beef, bacon, poultry, eggs fish, etc…
  • Meals consist of clean grass-fed meats such as ground beef, steaks, eggs, organic chicken, and fish, and some people consume clean dairy.

Others say they feel better and are losing more weight leaving the dairy out.

I think the carnivore diet has huge benefits for those who are very overweight and looking to lose a lot for health reasons.

It also has benefits for those struggling with autoimmune issues and oxalates.

The carnivore diet sounds like a really interesting concept. The benefits of eating meat only are that you’ll lose weight from low carb intake, have lower rates of infections because your immune system will be stronger with all those nutrients, eat food without oxalates (oxalate is in vegetables), and reduce autoimmune disease.
