Maybe you want to think positive thoughts but you’re not sure how to start?
Creating a new thought life doesn’t come instantly. It took years for you to create a crappy thought life so you can’t expect your thoughts to instantly shift to a positive note.
If you are unhappy with your thought life (and you would know because you would be unhappy) here are some practical ways you can begin to change your negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
Start by being thankful. When you take the time to be thankful you are telling your brain to look for the GOOD in the world. You are probably used to scanning life and picking out the bad things so it may take some reminding your self to start scanning life for things you can be thankful for.
When you are in thankful mode, it relaxes the body and tells your nervous system it is safe. This turns off the fight or flight nervous system that pumps out all those stress hormones. Being thankful is very healthy for your body!

If you’re in a rut of bad thoughts Think the Opposite. If you’re feeling unmotivated, start saying you are a hard worker. if you’re feeling ugly, start declaring you’re beautiful. If you are angry, start declaring what you love about that person or situation. You get the idea. Your thought life runs the direction of your life. If you need a new direction the best place to start is by getting some new thoughts.

Being consistent is key. Changing your thought life happens one thought at a time. If you are consistent with positive thinking you WILL make changes, it just might not be overnight. It’s ok to place reminders around your house or in your car. Try a couple of post-it notes to remind yourself to be thankful or positive declaration statements around the house will go a long way.

Everyone has harder days when those dark thoughts roll in like a bad storm. It’s a good idea to have a plan on those days so you don’t decide to own those thoughts. Grab a journal or a piece of paper to get those negative thoughts out of your head. Find a friend you can confide in or take your negative thoughts to the Lord, He is a great listener.
